Neon White feels great to play on a fundamental level, and the game's visuals are stylish and striking. Completing a level might be simple enough, but the goal is to master them, a process that demands and rewards repeat runs so that each inch of the layout is memorized. While there is some variety, most stages require players to kill every enemy on their way to the endpoint. An action-platformer centering around a fascinating card system, Neon White challenges players to repeatedly run through levels so they seek the best time they can manage.
Speedrunning is not for everyone, but Neon White just might convince the non-believers. Players who never played the original will find a lot to enjoy in the new version, while veterans who have repeatedly accompanied Leon on his European adventure will find a journey that holds a few surprises. The remake could never hope to be as groundbreaking as Capcom's GameCube classic consequently, the game opts to provide a more consistent experience.
